As an energy expert, Sergiu led Moldova’s transition to gas market independence by developing the country’s first Gas Network Code and implementing alternative supply routes. He was the first to successfully transport gas via the newly launched Vertical Gas Corridor, integrating flows from the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) through IGB (Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria), Bulgartransgaz, Transgaz, Moldovatransgaz, Vestmoldtransgaz, and TSO-UA into Ukraine’s gas storage system. His work strengthened regional energy security and provided Moldova with real alternatives to traditional supply sources.
